Goan Fish Curry

Goan fish curry is the most amazing, delicious and simplest dish from western India. This curry is not only tangy and spicy, but also low in calories and realy easy to make! It is best served with Steamed rice.
Since I had it in Goa last year, I just could not get that deliciousness out of my mind! Although I could not replicate the exact taste, but this twist to the Goan Fish Curry is just as awesome! Check out the recipe below:

Any fish medium sized with white flesh cut into boneless pieces,
7-8 curry leaves
3-4 tablespoon of coconut milk
1 lemon
1/2 tsp cumin seeds
1 Tbs coriander seeds
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
4 flakes garlic
2 medium sized onions
8 Kashmiri red chillies
medium size lump of tamarind soaked in hot water or Kokum
One freshly grated coconut
Salt to taste
2 tbsp any cooking oil

Marinate the cleaned fish pieces with lemon juice and salt for about 10 minutes.
extract the tamarind pulp from tamarind by mixing it with fingers and straining through a sieve.
Now grind together onions, coconut, garlic, all the remaining masalas and tamarind pulp together in a grinder. add water as required to make a smooth paste.

Directions :
Heat the cooking oil in a pan on medium flame. Add the curry leaves and saute for about a minute. Gently add the masala paste and fry for 5 minutes on medium-low heat. now add water to the fried
masala to desired conistentency of a gravy.  bring it to 2-3 boils. Add some coconut milk at this point if you feel that the curry is too tangy. Add marinated fish pieces and again boil for 10 minutes on medium-low flame. do not cover the pan. remove from flame when fish is done. transfer it to the serving dish and serve it hot with freshly steamed rice.

Thai Fish Cakes

So its just 5 more days to the start of a fresh new year, and everyone has some plans for their New Year’s eve! Well, if you are the one having all the guests over, this is the perfect appetizer to serve! This party snack will definitely be a hit as it looks scrumptious, is really quick to make and tastes wonderful. And the best part? Who doesn’t love Thai cuisine?!  This might sound complicated but if you have all the ingredients, all you need is to put everything into a food processor, let it do the work, fry them and serve for the most delicious Asian taster!  PS: Happy New Year to all my readers and happy cooking! 😉

Ingredients :
400 gms skinless white flesh fish fillets ( deboned )
1-2 tablespoon fish sauce
1 large egg
Fresh coriander
Red Curry paste ( 1-2 tablespoon )
6-8 garlic pods
1 inch cube of ginger
Juice of 1 lime
Some garlic powder ( If you feel the need )
2-3 spring onions
Salt to taste
Red chili powder ( as per preference )
Oil for shallow frying.

Directions :
Finely chop the ginger and garlic or use a food processor to do the job. ( Oh it kinda rhymed ! )

With this, add the fish fillets, roughly chopped green onions, lime juice, fish fillets, Thai Red Curry paste, Coriander leaves, the egg, Fish sauce, Salt and chilli powder ( Garlic powder too if you require to ) into the food processor. Basically you just need to add all your ingredients to the blender. See how simple it is! And then let the food processor do the rest of the work.
You will get something like this with a paste like consistency. Apply some oil to your hands and make round patties out of it. Meanwhile, heat oil in a nonstick pan for shallow frying the patties.
Shallow fry these patties until golden brown on each side and properly cooked from inside.
And you’re all done with the cooking part. Now have a bite and reward yourself with the deliciousness!  Garnish with some coriander leaves and spring onions and serve with some sweet chili sauce as a dip! Happy New Year once again from !
