Apple Roses

These roses are actually a delicious dessert made from soft sweet apples and crunchy puff pastry. Trust me, roses never smelled or tasted so sweet! Impress your guests with this complicated looking but really easy to make dessert!
Ingredients :

Frozen puff pastry sheets or puff pastry dough
Red Apples
Salted Caramel, Apricot Preserve or any Jam of your choice
Cinnamon
Powdered sugar
Half lemon’s juice
Directions :

Thaw the frozen puff pastry
Into a bowl add water and lemon juice. Now cut the apples in half, remove the core and cut them into very thin slices. Do not peel the apple as the peel with give the red colour to the petals. Put all the sliced apple into the bowl.

This will prevent the apples from changing colour.

Microwave the bowl of apples for about 2 minutes. Check if they are soft and flappy. If so, drain out the water and keep the apple slices. This allows the apples to bend so that they do not break when we roll them.
Flour your counter. If you are using puff pastry, lay them over the counter and stretch only a little bit. If you are using the dough, make 2-3 inch balls out of it and using a rolling pin, stretch out the dough flat into a rectangular kind of shape. Now cut out 2 inch ( breadth ) strips from the dough.

Work with one strip at a time. Sprinkle some cinnamon and sugar mixture onto the sheet ( optional ) and spread apricot preserve/ jam/ salted caramel smoothly over the strip.
I have used Salted Caramel here.

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Place the apple slices on the dough as shown.

( This is done on a left over strip as I forgot to click the picture while actually placing the apples. Just place the apples on one side of the strip in a way that each slice covers half the slice underneath it )
Leave a little space at the ends.
Now start rolling the strip carefully, until it forms a rose, seal it and place it into a cupcake mold. If you are using a silcone mold you need not grease it, otherwise make sure you do so.

Bake at 350 degrees F for about 30-35 minutes or until fully cooked. Continue the same process for the rest of the strips. Dust some sugar and cinnamon on the top and you are ready to go!
